Central HS Named Debate School of Excellence, Earns More Accolades at NSDA Championship

Central High School Debaters at NSDA

Central High School just blazed a new trail for Minnesota Urban Debate at the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) Championship Tournament. The team had several landmark achievements for our league at the 100th anniversary NSDA Championship:

• All three partnerships/six students in attendance (Elliot Miller and Nathan Clark, Ben Berger and Abe Mulrooney, and Kiernan Baxter-Kauf and Max Ulven) were among the Top 30 teams in the nation!

• Central High School was named a Debate School of Excellence by the National Speech & Debate Association. This is exceptionally difficult to achieve for a forensics team that only competes in one activity (policy debate.) Central was in the top 20 of all 1,254 schools competing in the tournament for debate success!

Minnesota as a state is always well-represented at NSDA, but we are truly proud to see Urban Debate represented among the top schools, too. It is only possible through the dedication of their coaches and support of the Central High School community.

Our vision is for all Minnesota students to get their change to step into the spotlight as debaters. Make it possible with a gift. Donate today.
